16 JULY 2019 – 31 AUGUST 2019

Launch of Malacca Expatriate School’s First-Ever Public Art Exhibition

Tuesday, 16 July 2019, Malacca Expatriate School (MES) marked another milestone in the pages of its history of firsts.  MES launched its First Ever Public Art Exhibition with the theme “Heart of Melaka”.

This exhibition by the students of Malacca Expatriate School, was made possible with the collaboration of PERZIM, or the Malacca Museums Corporation.  PERZIM generously allowed us space in the Balai Seni Lukis Melaka (Malacca Art Gallery) to display more than261 pieces of Art created by our students.

On the 16th of August 2019, YBhg Datuk Haji Khamis bin Haji Abas, Deputy Chairman of the Board, Malacca Museums Corporation officially launched the Exhibition.  In attendance to witness the historic occasion were representatives from the Melaka Education Office, Cambridge Assessment International Examinations, local artists and parents.  Without the cooperation and support of everyone, this exhibition would not have been possible.

This exhibition is open to the public and it is hoped that this will be the first of many more exhibitions by students of other schools.  Art, in its myriad forms, has been shown to affect children positively.  It encourages creative thinking, focus as well as giving them an outlet for expressing their thoughts and emotions.

We invite you to visit the exhibition, explore the emotions and experiences that are vividly portrayed in the students art.  Read their accompanying stories for a closer glimpse into the psyche of the young artists.  You are welcome to tell us what you think, click HERE for the Facebook Post.
